Video Pitch

This process is about designing persuasive communications, whether demoing a finished product or attracting resources to your project.

Introduction

This pitch process will prepare students for communicating their ideas through teaching storytelling, visual communication, and basics in video production. The goal of this curriculum is to prepare students for entrepreneurship by teaching them to communicate their ideas to wider audiences. Crowdfunding is leveling the playing field for young innovators who want to take their ideas beyond the classroom. According to Kickstarter, crowdfunding projects posted with videos are more likely to succeed than ones without (50% vs. 30%). The lessons in this curriculum form a comprehensive guide (from ideation to editing) to creating a pitch video.

This process follows the same stages as the Design for America (DFA) design process. The DFA process is a description of the different types of activities and goals that DFAers engage in when solving social problems through human-centered design. If you are familiar with that process, the major change is that you are now designing a video, not a product or system.
