Hey team! This is CC from DFA National. Yall did so much this term and it shows from your pack. Seems like your team got the most user interaction! Let me know if yall want clarification or have questions on my feedback. Looking forward to seeing where the project goes next term!
Like
- Wonderful overview of Caroline and Friedreich’s Ataxia.
- Like how yall highlighted how you used empathy to understand her experience and emotions of having this disease.
- Great storytelling of your whole process. I could see the consideration yall put into for every direction you took the steps. Glad yall documented the project well enough to have pics for all parts (synthesizing insights, interview clusters, baking with caroline etc.)
- Liked how your stated exactly what you did under the headers. #nice
- Glad you got to bake with Caroline and observe her experience! Also glad how you got feedback on initial brainstorm ideas. Seems like other teams really didn’t get the opportunity :0
Wish
- Nice how yall have branding research. Not sure if I understood the exact reason behind why you included the branding research. Were you looking at existing solutions in the 3 areas of innovation? Who are the “parties” that are discussing the “it”?
- Wish I had some close(r)-ups of the concept sketches. Didn’t really have a clear idea about what your solution would actually entail.
- Wish you had research showing what existing products are out there. You include a sentence in “Final Direction”. Would be awesome to see what kind of things are out there!
Questions
- When you say “Appeal for users outside of Caroline” in Final Direction do you mean others with FA or others facing similar problems?

We did not gain more insight into our product itself but we have a better understanding of how the branding and presentation of it. Caroline said that a product that labels its user as disabled is a very strong thing to do. The product we design needs to be a good product that anyone can use, not a product for disabled people. It needs to be able to fit on the shelves of Target or Wal-Mart.
