We had an amazing project critique yesterday. Thank you guys for coming and giving valuable feedback. And thank to all the groups for the incredible presentations. Pictures on files.

Anne-Laure Fayard - It was indeed really nice to hear the updates on all the projects and to hear about our new project on 3 D printed prosthetic hands and a featured idea on OpenIDEO for the college affordability challenge. We had two great guests who provided insightful feedback. Two of our projects on Fiat Chrysler and food waste (with Do Tank) will present their final prototypes in December. Good luck to them! Our bindi team is going to Kathmandu in January and they seem to be having a lot of great activities (research and light prototyping) ready for this trip. Looking forward to the December Project Critique.

Great meeting last Thursday where we did an experience journey for our refugee challenge idea and explored how to prototype it with women migrants in NY. It sounds like a project we'll explore in the fall.

Nice to see the idea our club posted on openIDEO refugee education challenge listed as a highlight idea of this week: https://openideo.com/blog/refugee-education-weekly-highlights-may-8-2015
there are also a lot of comments / feedback posted. There are several good questions that we should research further and take into account while doing the experience journey.

Anne-Laure Fayard - Congratulations to all for the amazing work you did this year. The recognition of our club reflects your passion and commitment to using human-centered design at NYU and outside. I'm really proud to work with all of you, and without you, I would not have received that award! Good luck with the finals!

Some news.

We conducted a new trial test for the NYU Safety App and we believe it includes the features requested by most of the users. The next step is to spread the word. We have already defined some points of the marketing strategy plan and started working on it.

We are planning to have some small events around the university to present both the app and the website to the NYU community and we will also use social media channels to promote them. Furthermore, we are trying to get the university administration support.

Besides that, we had our openIDEO NY Meetup for the Financial Empowerment Challenge on Monday. The event was a success. Fifteen engaged participants had the opportunity to brainstorm and work on their ideas for financially empower those who need it most. There were interesting solutions related to financial education and resources usage. Soon they are going to be posted on the openIDEO platform.

Just a quickly update about our project.

First of all, we have improved our NYU Safe App and we will do a new test round this week. Secondly, we worked on the Travel Buddy Website based on the feedback and suggestions from the club members. Now, we are defining a marketing strategy to promote both of them and reach most of the NYU community.

More one thing, due to calendar conflicts, the Design Tinkering Club would like to inform that the "NY OpenIDEO Meetup on Financial Empowerment Challenge" has been postponed to Monday, 6th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

We would like to apologize for any inconvenience.

Are we meeting in the morning tomorrow? I was thinking that we should plan for a UI test for the Travel Buddy website. For now there are some small issues with the experience, but it's going to be fixed. Btw, if we're going to ask people to test it and start using it, we need to move it to a better server, preferably AWS. For now it's hosted on some godforsaken free server that slows down to a crawl when more than three people are online simultaneously. Props to Pradhyo though, the guy learnt how to create a website specifically for this project. Isn't it awesome when people are inspired enough to collaborate with us?

Hello everyone!

I just want to make a quickly update about our project as well as other activities our group is currently involved.

First of all, we have been improving our NYU Safe App based on the feedback and suggestion that we got from our previous tests. We believe that we will have a new, and improved, version of it by next week. Secondly, we worked on building an improved prototype for our Travel Buddy Website. You can see some pictures on the Files tab. Now, we are conducting some trial tests within our club members to get their feedback.

Furthermore, we are organizing an ideation NY Meetup for the OpenIDEO challenge of financial empowerment. Here you can find more information about the challenge:
https://openideo.com/challenge/financial-empowerment-challenge/brief

We believe this would be of great benefit for our community. And we would be glad if you could participate or share the event with your contacts that might be interested.

1) What did we accomplish in the last week?
Last week we worked on our final video that will soon go live. Furthermore, we conducted a trial test for the NYU Safe App as well as the Travel Buddies Website within our club members to get their feedback and suggestions. Both the App & the web site will be updated according to the useful feedbacks gathered. However, they are working!

2) What will we accomplish in the next week?
For the next week we are going to work on the App and Web site to give them the final touch before we could finally test them with people apart from our club members. We will also promote them to the NYU community.

3) What obstacles are impeding us from accomplishing our tasks?
The main obstacle now is getting users for our platforms, since both of them are based on the concept of community. Therefore, getting people aware and to make them actively participate is essential for us to guarantee the success of our project goal.

4) What are the big decisions we are making right now?
The main decision is to come out with the channels we are going to use to promote the app and the website to reach out the maximum possible potential users.

5) What was a high point and a low point of the week?
The high point of the week was getting both of our initiatives tested and our video is coming out to be really good. The low point was that there are still some minor modifications needed for both the App & the Web site to run perfectly.
